In early 2018 I was presented with the exciting opportunity of working with Elementary Robotics to help develop an animation pipeline for their robotic arms. It was an amazing project to work on and an incredible learning experience.
I worked closely with engineers to create FK/IK rigs of several six-axis robot arms in Maya that would translate perfectly to their real-life counterparts. I helped create a pipeline to transfer my hand-keyed animations onto the physical robots and created educational materials, Maya plugins, and pickers to allow other users to create, export, and transfer their own animations with ease. I also helped prototype robot arms in Maya during the initial design phase to simulate their range of motion. Finally, I animated, lit, and rendered several videos of robot arms for marketing purposes.
Working on this was a seriously amazing experience, and I can't wait to see what Elementary does next!
